La mariposa y la iguana is an independent and self-managed press founded by poets Dafne Pidemunt and Leticia Hernando. The publishing house specializes in poetry and themes related to gender and diversity. They have three collections: “The butterfly and the iguana,” dedicated to new voices in contemporary fiction and poetry; “Palimpsest,” which re-releases classics in new translations and in bilingual editions when possible; and “Praxis,” a non-fiction series. The themes of gender and sexual diversity intersect in all three collections. Additionally, they have a series of small format plaquettes and book-origami.
